Announcements for February 26, 2014
6th Grade Band: There will be no 6th grade band today due to the performance of the musical. Enjoy the show!
Student Council will meet Tuesday, March 5 in room 132. See you there!
Minecraft Club!! The Minecraft Club has returned and is now being hosted Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-4pm in the IMC during the KNIGHT OWLS. Minecraft students must arrange to be picked up at 4. Keep calm and craft on! Remember, you can come to the IMC to work with a student learning coach, or just to have a quiet space to catch up on work. Students working on their academic work may also ride the bus home to their nearest elementary school. We look forward to seeing you there!
Fine Arts Night: Fine Arts Night Artists: Thank you for sharing your artwork at the exhibition Wednesday night. Please pick up your art in Mrs. J and Mr. R’s room during ROUND table and after school only Friday and Monday. The first 32 students will receive a cookie!
PBIS: BJHS is having another event related to our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). We told you at the PBIS kick-off that there would be more to come! This next event is designed to encourage an increase in our monthly student attendance rate, which is currently at 94% and decrease unapproved tardies to school. DJ Mondo from Radio Station Hot 105.5 will broadcast from BJHS during all three lunch hours on Wednesday, March 19th if you can increase our attendance rate to 98% from February 18 to March 17. The radio station will also give away additional incentives to the grade level with the highest attendance rate and fewest tardies. Get to school every day and on time to earn this incentive!
The BJHS GSA would like to offer the t-shirts that we have designed to all students and staff. You may request an order form from your RT teacher. Money and orders are due March 6. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Evans in the IMC.
Seventh Grade Students: Our own Little Free Library (LFL) will be ready for use starting February 12. It is located in the seventh grade annex near the water fountain. The idea of the LFL is to have students take books to read and donate books for others to read in order to share the joy of literature. Students do not have to return the books they take or donate books in order to use the LFL. However, we hope to have as many books donated as possible so we can continue the service to our students. Any students wishing to donate large quantities of books (more than the case can handle), should see Mrs. Passini in Room 128 between 7:45 and 8 am. Please do not put IMC books or teachers’ books in the LFL. Enjoy!
Cafeteria: The Snack Shack is back and open from 2:45-3:45 daily. Check out the new marque above the snack shack!
You could be the winner! Throughout the school year there will be a drawing once every month for a $50.00 Amazon Gift Card to be given to one lucky student. Cafeteria workers are now tracking waste of plates and silverware and donations of whole fruit and milk for each class. A winner will be announced at the end of each month.
Sports and Activity Tryouts: If you are interested in trying out for an upcoming sport/activity, you must have your gold slip from the office before the first day of tryouts. Gold slips will not be given out after the sport/activity has started.
From the BJHS Administration: All BJHS students attending after school athletic activities need to be picked up within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the game. Students, who do not have rides within the 15 minutes, may be banned from D-87 after school activities. Also, during basketball games, you are not allowed to leave the bleachers unless it is at the end of the period, half-time, or at the conclusion of the game. Students that leave the bleachers may be asked to leave the game by administration. Any student that leaves the concession or gate area without administrative permission will not be allowed back into the game.
